Komunikasi Opinion Leader pada Perkawinan Satu Suku Adat Minangkabau di Nagari Harau

The role of this traditional figure is a dynamic position that is owned by a traditional leader, in this one-tribe marriage problem, the role of traditional leaders is needed to protect and maintain the dignity of the indigenous people. Likewise with marriages in Minangkabau adat, this marriage system requires people to marry outside the lineage called clan (clan), in Minangkabau society this marriage system is known as abstinence marriage. People often call it the ban on marriage of one tribe. This marriage has occurred in Nagari Harau in the Chaniago tribe, this study aims to determine the role of traditional leaders and social customary sanctions for those who marry one tribe. This study involved 2 informants, namely traditional leaders from the Chaniago tribe, and this study used a qualitative method with the aim of gaining a general understanding. From the results of this study, it can be seen that the role of the traditional leaders in the marriage problems of one tribe has a very large influence on the community or its indigenous people. The existence of this traditional figure has a very high position as a controller of the indigenous people and their community. Traditional leaders will act decisively if one of their customary people marry this one tribe. If they are violated, they will get customary and social sanctions, such as not being brought to traditional events, being ignored by the community, being expelled from customs or villages, and so on. Traditional leaders give sanctions in accordance with the rules that have been made or agreed upon by the ancestors.
